Is my old Brake Buddy OK?

We have our new 2014 Subaru Forester manual transmission in shop to install new base plate. Also replacing 12 year old Blackhawk tow bar with new Falcon tow bar. We had towed our 2002 PT Cruiser over 30,0000 miles so it was time to get a new Toad. My question is should I replace my original Brake Buddy? This is their first model, but seems to work fine. Thanks in advance.
  • If it works do nothing, keep using it. Our "newer than yours" Brake Buddy went to the shop 7-8 times in 6 years of full timing. After the last "in house" repair it worked about 2 months and started the old "cycling without any need", while set on the lightest sensitivity setting. It has been replaced by a Patriot Braking System w/o any air cylinder or hoses to leak, involved. Our '03 Sport Trac is still going strong after 80,000+ miles of towing and 129,000+ miles on the odometer.
  • We have the "old" metal square box Brake Buddy and it works BETTER than any of their newer models. It has been through at least 6 or 8 toads, one rear end collision while attached to the MH that totaled the toad and there is NO way I will get rid of it.
  • I'd keep it unless you find any of the BB Advantage Select features worth trading up for.
  • If you divide to replace it. Contact BB they may offer a discount. Take your old BB back and sell you a new one at a discount price.

I upgraded my old one like your a few years back.
  • If it works properly I would keep it! that is more money in your pocket for traveling!

I used mine for over 10 years and never had a problem with it. I sold it after I sold my moho.
