As I stated will not trust my life or my family's to a maybe block, piston, rod, crank, etc. They had the engine tore down, the parts that could fail and injure someone should have been inspected. I will be towing through the mountains, not chancing a runaway. And 2 overhauls in 50K miles on a diesel is serious.
1st vehicle is sold by the salesman, no issues, following vehicles are easy sales. When an issue arises remaining vehicles are sold by service department or in serious cases manufacturer.
I wouldn’t keep the piece of chit either. But you’re laying on the potential loss of life or limb just a bit too hard. It’s a truck. If the engine dies, it stops. If you happen to be going downhill, you need to also use the brakes to stop it.
If your concern of a “runaway” truck is that strong, driving in the mountains ain’t for you. There’s a dozen other things that could happen and result in a tragic accident as well. Most of which are not in your control.
