- BoatycallExplorerThe trailer in my sig is 10k, no problems at all assuming you have all the proper rigging and capacity.
- BedlamModeratorI also use the SuperHitch with the SuperTruss.
I just finished replacing 28" SuperTruss with a 42" model:
I tow a 20' enclosed trailer that typically loaded 6000-8000 lbs.
I no longer need the shorter SuperTruss: joe&julie81 wrote:
Does the extension bar always extend straight out from the receiver or in some cases drop down and further out to accommodate the camper overhang?
Straight out.
Torklift SuperHitch and Supertruss is the ONLY system to use for what you want to do.joe&julie81 wrote:
What about if the TC is a 950 model and extends beyond and below the bed of the truck?
Yes, you can do it with a Torklift SuperHitch and SuperTruss extension and appropriate weight distributing hitch, on a one ton dually.
I've towed 10k with my camper on my truck. It wasn't pleasant, and I wouldn't do it again.- burningmanExplorer IIPeople do this all the time. I towed a 10,000 trailer many times over many mountain passes with an 11.5 foot 4000 pound camper on the truck, with several different one-ton duallies.
This is the kind of thing a dually can do, it's why you buy one. - Reddog1Explorer IIjoe&julie81, I responded to your PM, but it was rejected due to your email address was not valid.

Do two things then come back with the answer and we can give you a more positive answer.
Weigh the truck loaded with the camper and report back the axle weights along with the GAWR. You will also need to measure from the end of the exsiting hitch to the rear bumper of the camper to determine the length of the extension. I'm thinking with a Lance 950, you will need a 24" - 36" extension. - Buzzcut1Nomad IIIts not that difficult and travel trailers have a better weight distribution than horse trailers. With two horses I have a 1200 pound tongue weight on a 48" extension with weight distribution bars. I have traveled many thousands of miles over mountain passes this way
- jimh406Explorer IIIIf you look at some of the pictures of TCs pulling trailers, you can see that most bumpers don't go as low as the hitch opening, so the extension will clear.
As far as geometry is concerned, you can run a weight distribution hitch. Of course, you also have to have enough weight capacity to overcome the tongue weight no matter if it is extended or not. - kerrlakeRooExplorerDoesn't the geometry get in the way of this? A 500 lb hitch weight, pushed an additional 4' back becomes the equivalent of 1000 lbs in payload.
How do you overcome the weight issue?
