Last night while traveling down a very quiet country road I started to get sleepy. We were only 2 miles from our destination. I said to my wife "man am I ever getting sleepy all of a sudden". I no sooner got the words out of my mouth and a chime went off and the dic displayed an orange message something like "driver fatigued rest stop recommended". My wife and I wondered how it could know I was sleepy. We went a mile further and I said "man I can't keep my eyes open." The chime sounded again and this time the displayed message was red and said something like "driver fatigued. Pull over immediately and rest". I asked my wife if I was weaving or driving somehow erratic and she said she never noticed anything. She said "maybe it heard you say you're sleepy". I have no idea how but it knows when I am sleeping.

It measures driver input. The mount of pressure put on the steering wheel, how often the wheel is moved, etc.

Don't know how it works, but sounds like a good thing. Is that just a Ford feature, or do other trucks have it as well?

My 91 F-150 doesn't do that..:BBig Brother IS watching. In this case it's a good thing.

big brother is watching.. the Car manufacturer...

every hard braking.. every hard acceleration. every hard/sharp turn...

if not sending .. its recording.. ....

and if you get into a major crash... police and insurance CAN pull the information from your vehicle..

My 2018 Equinox told me to "Take Steering" after I had taken my hand of the steering wheel for too long.

And I only had 2 hard braking and 3 hard accelerations today.

Or 119 hard braking over the 9600 miles.

....or tailgating, or not allowing the 2 second rule, or looking for the imaginary brake pedal, or it's too hot/too cold, music it too loud, doesn't like the station, etc....

Yes,, it is communicating back to the company. Ever heard of OnStar?? or GPS?? He knows if you've been bad or good, Just keep that thought in mind. And insurance companies know how to access the information.
