There is no problem with the ignition switches.
There is a MAJOR FLAW in the design of the keys.
It's an easy fix.
That is incorrect! GMC's or I should say Delphi's own engineers sent out memo's to GM telling them that the spring spec was WAY under what it should be. GMC's AME staff told Delpi's engineers to build the switch to the new spec. That is why they can rotate off so easily and YES that is a problem! It was also covered up by GMC for YEARS! It is a fact that even with court documents some here will not believe.

At the insistence of the bureaucrats in Washington, the manufacturers are looking for a fix for the switches; instead, they should be looking for fix for the problem.
So here is the easy fix:
A SOTS pipe cleaner wrapped (8 turns) in the slot in the key holds the ring centered in the slot.
BEFORE APPLYING THE FIX:
Applying a downward force of 4 oz. on the ring produced enough torque to rotate the switch to the "OFF" position.

AFTER APPLYING THE FIX:
Applying a downward force of 5 lbs. did not cause the switch to rotate.
