I'm happy to hear that everyone walked away OK. We had a similar episode 3 years ago where a novice driver pulled out in front of us on a rural highway; he cranked it into oncoming traffic when he saw us coming, which saved our truck from being damaged, but panicked and cranked it back into our lane and sideswiped the driver's side of our fiver. It was all cosmetic damage but still ended up being a $5k claim.
As much as I agree that gas will likely do the job, I think you will be somewhat disappointed overall after coming from your previous truck. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a 2013 and up Ram 3500 with the 6.7L Cummins; they are very solid overall and get reasonably good fuel economy. As much as you said you are looking to go SRW, I would seriously consider a DRW if you are considering going with another high end unit like a Cameo. It's amazing how quickly the weight of trailers climb when adding "stuff"! :B
