Jayco 26BHS (or similar) - lighting question

I have a 2015 Jayco 26BHS. This trailer has the toilet and shower separated from the sink. The sink is just outside of the bathroom door. The room with he toilet and shower has a light switch wall mount in the bathroom to control the light in that room. All of the additional lights in the trailer, except for the one over the bathroom area sink, can be controlled from the main switch box. We can adjust those that we want on and off for our individual preference. The one over the bathroom area sink perplexes me, as it is neither connected to the main light switch in the trailer, nor does it have it's own separate wall mount switch. It can only be turned off and on by directly flipping the switch on the light itself. The problem is that neither my wife, nor my kids can reach the switch located directly on the light in it's ceiling mounted position. Anyone else experience this issue, or do I have a potential miss in the wiring? It wouldn't be a huge issue if it wasn't a dark section of the trailer. Thanks!

  • Great suggestion on the night light...I didn't even think about that. Thank you! It is so odd that they would wire it this way. I think I will do the wood dowel trick for my wife. I know that will make things easier for her.
  • That's they way they are wired. The light above the dinette is also not on a wall or panel switch. You could probably add a wall switch but you would have to drop the overhead light, snake wires in the ceiling and wall then cut out paneling to add the switch...not worth it to me.

Try a wood dowel and add a rubber stopper to the end to reach the light. At night, we just leave an LED night light plugged into the outlet near the sink so the kids can see in that area.
  • I have had both Jayco and now StarCraft and yes that is the way they operate.
