Who do they ask? I have NEVER been asked to do a survey by JD Powers...so do they cover every owner in the USA or just "pick and choose"....hey, I agree with most of their picks...unlike Consumers report...but at almost 64 yrs of age and owning ALL the new cars that I have, one would think at sometime, I would have been asked by someone other than the manufacturer of my vehicle...

If they take a random survey odds are the same that they will find a happy owner, a disgruntled owner, and everyone in between regardless of what the item being reviewed is.
I got three surveys when I bought my last new truck and didn't return a single one. I have never received any surveys for my washer and dryer, my John Deere riding mower, my refrigerator, my weed eater, my chain saw......
If you really want to know how they survey you could ask them in an e-mail. They have a contact us link on their website.
