JD Power Dependability Awards - GMC wins Pickup Segments

Always said GM made a good vehicle. As does Ford. You don't become #1 and #2 in sales by building junk.

Also, look at the Chrysler Corp. groupings, including Ram. At the bottom of the pack. I thought "the quality issues would be fixed by 2011"? Some things never change.

I've never put much stock in these ratings. What they tell me is the difference between the best and the worst is nearly meaningless. Odds are pretty good you will be a satisfied owner of any new truck. Of course they all have their horror stories, but those are few and far between. (Yes, I know it's far worse when it happens to ME.)

If they won the dependability award they must have gotten a new tranny and oil cooler hose vendor. :B

I have been waiting for over 20 years for them to get a new hose vendor. Looks like this did! Good for them!

No surprise. The GM trucks are new this year and the others aren't.

In addition the Chevy LS V8 (both GMC and Chevy's power plant) is a tremendous engine. In everything from Corvettes to HD pickup trucks.

GMC "caters" to the "higher end" crowd...prices were alway's normally more expensive for the GMC than the Siverado...I couldn't afford a GMC, but could afford the same truck in a Chevy..Thus, Chevy was the way to go....just paid less for exact same truck...heck, they both come off the same assemby line, just different badges, and GMC people will expound upon how much better a GMC is than a Chevy

I'm guessing personal preference of the testers. The GMC's seem to have a few interior and exterior touches that seperate them from the Chevy's a little bit. I agree with them, I like the GMC's a little better than the Chevy's but not enough to pay what they wanted to charge me for those little touches over the Chevy's.

My question would be why doesn't the Sierra and Silverado have the same rankings?

Hey good on GM, I really like their products. I myself have a 2012 Silverado and no complaints but I can't help but wonder if these rankings mean anything. It seems like at any given time you can research another source and find a Ford or Ram on top. I just go out and figure it out for myself when its time to buy.
