Nothing to register for, Ron. The link provided by FordLover for the CBS Detroit feature has the imbedded link HERE for the JD Power IQS press release.
My point was, contrary to your statement, "...they all do their surveys and arrive at different results.", they survey and measure completely different aspects of consumer responses, and JD Power and Consumers Union do it with at least a modicum of impartiality. JD's survey data is an "Initial Quality" survey of vehicle problems reported by owners in their first 90 days of ownership. Consumers Union has a broader reporting criteria covering a longer time period.
Many people are so quick to disparage them and the useful research and information they provide, frequently out of blind fealty to their chosen brand. Do I imply they are the ONLY reference source for buying vehicles? Absolutely not, but it's better than relying on Motortrend, Car & Driver, or pickups.com for "objective" data.
And Kelley Blue Book, I don't see where they provide anything beyond advice and alleged "market" values for buying and selling cars.
Thank you. While I rarely take anything as Gospel I find online, when you uniformly poll 80,000+ people on their experience with a recently purchased vehicle, what's to not believe in?
conspiracy theorists believe that those who buy Fiats all hate their purchase and lie about the first 90 days, where as people who buy Porches love them and ignore any problem that pops up?
It's a tool, one of many available. If you don't believe in JD power initial quality ratings, please feel free to use some dowsing rods to find the most reliable brand.
