I think it's cool. Solid Dana 44's with lockers on both ends, swaybar disconnects, and a 4:1 low range ratio. The breakover and departure angles are going to suffer compared to a standard Jeep but you can't really avoid that in a pickup platform. This thing will smoke all the other trucklets on the market in terms of offroad prowess. In fact it should be right up there with the Power Wagon with the advantage of being a lot handier size. And it looks a lot cooler in Rubicon form than it does in the picture above.
It doesn't have a locker on the front axle, but it does have a limited slip.

Agree. This article says it has front and rear lockers with the Rubicon package, and the Wrangler with the Rubicon package has front and rear lockers. I think the pickuptrucks.com blog has failed again. - dodge_guyExplorer II

Fiat should bring back the Jeep station wagon, what was that called? I still see one on the roads around town, getting old now... Was a fan of the Magnum too.
Just wait. There is rumor of them coming back with the Grand Wagoneer. Even with optional wood grain! Seriously!!!! They are doing this as it is rumored that the big GM SUV’s may be saying goodbye.
IDE love to see a new Grand Wagoneer! - js9234ExplorerCompared to what? How does it not make a very good truck? Has more payload than the other midsizes and a 5 ft bed. It has the best approach and departure angles of the midsizes with front and rear lockers and front disconnect sway bar. What else do you want? I'll agree on the affordability even though prices haven't came out yet but I'm sure it's gonna be expensive.

Looks kind of cool, but doesnt make for a very good truck, and too long of a wheel base to make a real good off-road vehicle. And I probably couldn’t afford it - js9234ExplorerIt does in the Rubicon package.

- Bionic_ManExplorerI like it. I do wish they would have followed the lead of what they did with the Dakota and offered it with a V8.
- dshelleyExplorerIt looks promising, good payload, good tow capacity, good power, especially when the diesel option becomes available. Ford and GM are offering some very fine smaller trucks now and the Jeep Gladiator will add another good choice. I like it, and may be adding my name to the order list.
- Grit_dogNavigatorPretty sure FCA will sell the c rap out if those! Cool truck.
- DakotaDadExplorerIf I didn't tow an RV, I'd be in line for one of these. Just enough bed for 90% of my Lowes/Home Depot runs, but most of the fun capability of a Wrangler. Almost the best of both worlds. Not a bad compromise.
It's not gonna tow the 5er, though. So nothing more than something fun to think about for me. - All_I_could_affExplorerLooks kind of cool, but doesnt make for a very good truck, and too long of a wheel base to make a real good off-road vehicle. And I probably couldn’t afford it
