I have a '13 F350 and have run PM22 since day one, mainly because it adds lubricity, which is definitely a good thing for that expensive HPFP. The more the merrier ! I buy it by the case for around $9/bottle. I think one bottle treats 240 gallons. So less then 4 cents/gallon ?
I also was told by a Ford diesel service manager (not where I bought my truck) that I should only run Ford (Motorcraft) oil filters, even if I change my own oil. No need for anyone to chime in on how this is just a ploy to get me to buy overpriced Ford filters. Been doing my own changes for years. There are many 'suspect' filter brands out there, and diesels dirty up their oil pretty fast, so I choose to use the Ford brand.
He also told me to use Motorcraft air filters, which I do. Diesels flow a lot of air and some brands can collapse. Amazon is your friend here.
I always buy DEF at Walmart (2.5 gallon for about $12). DEF is DEF.
54,000 miles as a fulltimer and everything is fine. Have never got a bad load of fuel, but I always try to get fuel at high volume places (Murphy, etc). Remember that the station with the lowest price will GENERALLY be the highest volume dealer.
#1. If where you normally fuel has 2% bio diesel, that has the best lubricity additive.
#2. Yep diesels make the oil black in a hurry, not an issue, just part of being a diesel, 10,000 mile changes here, no issues, use Cummins filters (Fleetguard).
