Joining the eco boost club

I have had a 3.5 EcoBoost for a year now. While I haven't yet towed in real mountains, it does everything I could hope for without that annoying low rumble sound.

Do what ever you want.

Ford needs to drop the F250 and just sell the F150 and F350+. F150's do everything an F250 do and have better mpg when empty.

As long as you spec'd the truck out to handle the weight, should be OK. You are up near max loading.

The turbo will be running a lot of boost most of the time but it should do the job. If you tow 20,000miles per year, I would question the option but if it's the more typical 2,000miles per year the engine should hold up fine.

Personally I would want a 3/4 ton for a 10k lb trailer. More for the suspension and brakes over the engine but again where and how much you tow factors in.

I hope you got the Max Payload package along with the Max Tow. Guys are pulling the lighter fifth wheels with that combo over on the Grand Design forum and the trucks are doing very well.

Well, you did make a mistake if you didn't get the HDPP. If your payload sticker isn't close to 2000 lbs you will be on the edge of safety, and your comfort will suffer when towing.

I have a similar trailer with almost identical weights. Your hitch weight ain't gonna be 830 lbs. It'll be closer to 1000. My HDPP handles an 1100lb tongue and 8500 lb trailer great with 4 in the cab. The EB I had before was just Max Tow and it didn't have enough payload and I was overloaded most of the time and I could tell. Now I know better.

Welcome to the club, always nice to see another convert, forget what the old timers say these Turbo Engines are kicking ass and taking names and reliable as anything else out on the road. You'll really love it when you find your self passing V8's on the grades like they're standing still while towing.

Thanks, and no I didn't get the HDPP. Like others have said elsewhere, they are as scarce as a virgin in Vegas.
