Joining the eco boost club

I love my 2017 f150 but it isn't in the same class as my 2017 f250. That's just silly talk.

An F150 no matter what package you slap on it is going to have a semi floating rear @3800 and 3650 front

An F250 is going to have a full floating rear @6340 and 5200 front.

An F350 SRW is @6780 rear and 5200 front.

With one parked beside the other, 15 minutes on a creeper comparing everything under the truck between the 250 or 350 and the 150 makes the silly talk sillier than silly lol. I'll take the floater if I intend to use a truck as a truck.

But...for those who think a half ton is no different than higher class trucks...it is like trying to explain sex to a virgin...

Lost to them is that all things are designed for a Mr Murphy moment, when there is no time to go back to the store for proper sized everything...nor time to re-setup the rig/trailer

ON the good days, just about anything 'can' tow it...

IMHO...think just because most all OEM's use the exact same sheetmetal/body across their full sized classes of pickups...many/most think no difference between'm...

Back when I was buying a truck to haul a TT a Ford Service manager took me back in the shop and showed me the differences between an F150 and F250 while both were up on a lift. I bought the F250.

On the other hand, if an F150 is within your towing needs, more power to you. Enjoy your new truck.

My trailer is approximately 600lbs heavier, 37ft long, and with a 1,075lbs hitch weight, so I'm curious how your truck will handle it. I'm betting you will enjoy towing it.

I waited and just got the 2018 HDPP S.Crew 3.5 EB, 6.5 box, and I'm trying to get those 1000 miles in before towing.

This is my first Ford, first domestic, first truck, first automatic transmission vehicle since my freshman year in college in 1982, so I'm super nervous.

I keep vehicles almost forever, and gotten spoiled with having very little unexpected repairs over the life of a vehicle.

To me, reliability begins at 125,000 miles, and I don't expect to spend practicality nothing in unexpected repairs...maybe a couple hundred bucks max.

I've read a couple of your posts in the F150 towing forum, and your comments along with other HDPP owners are one of the reasons why I went with the 2018 HDPP F150.

My trailer is 8,300 dry/9,900lbs max, but I don't see me adding over 500-600lbs worth of personal stuff in the trailer, while taking full advantage of my 2,470lbs payload by carrying generators, coolers, a few tools, etc, in the truck.

My two 2000 watts inverter generators and a screen tent will most likely be the heaviest single items in the truck or trailer, so I will probably be in the under 9,300lbs range depending on how much fresh water I decide on carrying...probably a 1/4 tank.

Nope. 2018 F150 HDPP FAWR is 3750, RAWR is 4800, GVWR 7850. Yes, semi-floating but I don't care. When I load mine up to my full kit, I have 200 lbs left on RAWR and 150 left on GVWR. It tows awesome, way more comfortable than my previous 3/4s did. No shortage of power, and stable as a rock. Right tool for the right job. If you haven't towed with a Gen2 HDPP you have no idea what you are talking about.
