So for those that want to learn a little more, you could spend some time reading this thread. It will educate you about dirty getting in your engine and the extra wear it will cause.
Disclaimer: I have a K&N filter in the attic that I bought from my Dodge dealer in 2001. Ran it a few years here in the NW where it is not dusty. Then Dodge put out notices to not use them, saying that they let to much dirt in the engine. So I installed a BAF truck filter and ran it for a few years, but the turbo nosy was not to my liking. So I installed a stock filter and the air box again. Never could tell the difference in horse power or mileage between the three.
My boat has two Cummins engines with OEM Walker Airseps which use K&N filters. No dust in the boat engine room to worry about!!!
So if a filter is letting in a little more air flow for a given size, then it is letting in more dirt also, which is wearing out engine parts faster!
