What shortcomings? Not having to wait for an air filter to dry in the sun before I can put a used air filter back in my truck? No one has pointed out any benefits.
When clean it is not used, it is just as clean as the very first time it was put in!
I go to the sand dunes and run around those with the X. When i get home and check out the filter there is always a bunch of sand collected on the filter. But there is never any thing in the intake tube, not even dust. So i don't know where everyone is getting there "facts" from, but i'm giving 100% accurate info. So what i can only come up with is that everyone is jealous of those of is that use them and are giving thier reasons for not being as smart as the rest of us! Sorry, but unless you use one extensively don't bother to give your opinion!
I din't know if it gives any extra HP or not, but i know i haven't bought a filter in 50k miles!
When it's clean it's not used? Ok?
I've not said the first word about dusting. I'm just not seeing the benefits. Even 5hp at peak hp rpm wot where I never run isn't a benefit. My truck is almost 100% pavement driven. I changed my Purolator air filter at 25,000 miles and it was still clean in appearance. Coming up on 75,000 miles and I might change it just to see what it looks like. For the dunes maybe. For the lawn mower it's an oiled foam filter. For my truck there's no reason to use a non OEM type non manufacturer approved filter. There's a reason I've never bought or used one. Shame you only want one sided opinions expressed and only if they agree with yours.
