Good point. I hadn't thought about that so when I was at Costco yesterday I took a careful look at the tabletop and portable grills that looked very much like the Coleman.
On the two that I saw, neither had the propane hookup regulator hose permanently attached to the grill. One of them had a very simple connection male connection that would match the female connector on the hose on the right in this picture:
It would be just a matter of finding the right length of hose and then you would bypass the grill's regulator altogether.
I couldn't get full access to the second grill so I couldn't see the connection for the regulator hose. I guess someone would need to confirm the connection type on the grill to make sure it was compatible with standard fittings. If it is, there there should be no issues using it.
My goal in the future is to run other propane appliances from that connection as well.
