We're a family of 7 so we really do need the full hookups whenever we go out. I've found that we can survive about 24hrs before emptying the grey tank if we are careful. Usually, we arrive on a Friday night and I don't need to setup the sewer connection and empty the grey until the next afternoon. Because we have a full hookup, I keep the grey open for the rest of the weekend. We're much better with the black tank and we can last an entire 3-day weekend with no problems.
To get the hot water going really fast, we turn on the electric and gas switches on at the same time.
