I do use the grey tank to flush the sewer hose after emptying the black tank. Here are the steps I follow for dealing with the waste water....
First Night
No sewer hookups. Plenty of capacity to wash up in the evening, morning and afternoon without having to connect.
Second Evening
Connect sewer and empty grey tank before dinner. I leave the grey tank open so that we can do dishes and wash up in the evening without worry. The grey tank stays open for the rest of the trip until the last night.
Last Night
I close the grey tank tank after the kids go to bed the evening before we leave. That allows us to fill the grey tank in the morning with washing up and doing dishes. If we're only staying a 2 nights, it basically means I empty the grey tank once in the middle of our trip.
Leaving Day
Black tank gets emptied first then I hook up the hose and run the black tank flush while I start packing up other things. Sometimes I get busy with something and forget that the flush is still running, but it averages around 5-10 min when I turn it off. Then the grey tank is emptied.
Using the black tank flush every time and leaving the tanks empty when we leave, I find that I don't need to add any black tank chemicals at all. I also have a separate sewer hose cleaning attachment, but I find that I don't really need it, either.
As for water pressure, where we stay it is super high (like a fire hydrant!), so I always use a pressure regulator fitted with a Y-splitter. Fresh water on one side and the garden hose on the other. No water get connected to the trailer without being regulated.
