As a follow-up to my installation of the Winegard TV Signal Meter, I had a chance to try it at our annual site. Our site is a located far from a major city and there are no over-the-air TV signals available at all. I used to joke with my wife that you could tell who the newbies were because they were the ones who had their antennas up :B.
No more! I used the signal meter to do a search and was able to see that there was a signal that seemed fairly steady from one direction. It was below the threshold that would normally be displayed on the TV so I boosted the gain to its maximum and was able to boost it enough to pull something it. To my surprise it was a Canadian station. The picture was ghosted and not very clear at all, but the sound came in very well. I was able to watch a show and understand everything that was going on as well as the evening news.
Granted, the signal faded in and out at times and disappeared during the day, but it showed me how the signal meter can let me know what is around when previously I saw nothing.
