We finally made it!
Lessons Learned last night:
Make sure that you have at least one full propane tank before a cold rainy/snowy night. CHECK (I had to switch tank selection around 0130, thankfully I replaced the empty one before bedding down.)
Make sure that when dry camping that you unplug from the tow vehicle incase the battery drains all the way. CHECK (I woke up @ 0630 freezing cold, the deep cycle battery had drained all the way down. Granted the heater ran from 2000 until around 0615. All in all great job battery.)
So over all it was a great trip, and thanks to some careful planning and A LOT of research, fairly pleasant. I am happy that we brought the extra propane tank, and the 8k was well worth every penny.
1250 miles in two and a half days, two vehicles, two small kids, a six month pregant wife, my heavy Chevy (weighed in at 14,953 lbs full rig with everything in it) getting around 10-11 MPG, a lot of truckers on the cb, and one happy dad later, the Miller's are finally safe in Kansas, again!
