I sure did. The problem is there is too much of the load concentrated in that one area where the gas strut hinge mounts to the door. That gas strut is VERY strong. What I did was made a bigger (wider footprint) piece of metal and mounted that to my door where the original hinge mounted. Then I mounted the original hinge to that. The idea is to spread the load of the hinge to a larger area.
Do you know if there is any support bars within the door itself where you added the additional screws? Can you post a pic when possible?
Mine was on the left side when facing the kitchen.
As far as I know there aren't any support bars in the door itself.
I don't think I ever took a picture of it. I had some other issues with my door since then and Keystone replaced it out of warranty. I kept the brace in case it happens with this new door. I could probably get you a picture of that next to the hinge to give you an idea.
