Kill the Suds

Most of what goes into the grey tank is dishwater with liquid Dawn detergent. When I drain the tank I am getting an enormous amount of suds, so much so that it fills up the dump station line. Has anyone found something to add to the tank that kills these suds?

  • What about the liquid they sell along with the rental carpet cleaning machines that is supposed to keep the suds down? It seems like maybe that would work.
  • I would say just a few slivers of bar soap down the drain. When I was a little kid my mom would make bubble bath for us with dish liquid. As soon as we introduced bar soap to the tub for the required scrubbing, the bubbles disappeared.
  • We use Dr. Bronners soap instead of dish soap. It is more expensive (you get it at organic-type markets or Trader Joes) but it does not make suds. A few drops will wash the dishes. We also use it for showering, diluted.
  • We use the grey tank chemical. Don't know if it cuts suds but we have never had a problem. Lots of suds is usually caused by super soft water.
  • Not trying to be a smart%#$* but... less soap. I'd bet everyone in your rig could cut their soap use quantity in half, if not more. For example, I put a squirt of Dawn in a small spray bottle, fill with water and use that to do dishes for several days if not a week. I just spray the dishes, lightly scrub and rinse.
