KZ Brand - Your Opinion Requested

Last week I sold our old Coachmen Spirit of America. Now looking at a brand new KZ 280BHSS. I'm very impressed with the apparent quality of construction. But, if you've had any experience with the KZ brand, I would like to hear your opinions. Please tell me about the Good, Bad, and Ugly of this manufacturer. Thanks
  • I agree with Soundguy. Time will tell on the takeover by large corps.
IMO, the reputation of the dealer you buy from is more important.
Brands are brands and most can be fixed by a willing and able dealer.
As interest rates are low, consumers buy and they roll off them off the line as fast as possible. That results in some hits and a lot of misses.
You need to have a dealer to step up to the plate to fill in that void. Many times, a smart dealer takes care of issues that the mfg refuses. Family owned, small dealerships are often the better choice over large advertised dealerships, where the customer becomes a lost soul.

Anyone interested in a K-Z needs to understand it's no longer a privately owned company so comments from those of us owning a K-Z manufactured prior to Thor taking over are likely moot. Our 2008 Spree 240BH-LX was a great trailer ... but so what, that may have little bearing on trailers being manufactured today. :R
  • I've owned a Sportsman Classic for almost four years now and I'm quite happy with it.

It was a very inexpensive RV, and likely built to a price. That said, the only serious issue I had was the suspension springs wearing out very fast. Everything else has been great. The coach was fully operational at the PDI and hasn't needed any warranty work.

Time and time again folks are on these forums sharing their woes about failed PDI for trailers far more expensive than my humble coach.

Feel free to ask me any specific questions you might have.
