Lance 1575; 1685; or 1995

We looking to move to a smaller TT out off our 30 plus footer. Looking for those of you in either of the above Lance Trailers. We owned several truck campers and were impressed with the Lance due to very rugged construction.

Please share any thought and evaluation of your experience in any of those models.

Thanks!
  • Hi,
I purchased a 1995 just over a year ago and I absolutely love it!
I've taken it x-country to over 23 states and thousands of miles.
From Maine, to up over 11K feet in Colorado and down to beach in Florida. It's a great trailer.

Lots of storage and the large holding tanks come in handy.
You can definetely access bathroom and everything else with the slide in. Also, it is very well insulated and retains both heat and AC very nicely. I've not had any issues or problems with it.

I love the queen walk-around bed and the extra room in the 1995, and I especially love the window. You can lie in bed and look up at the stars at night through the large curved window in front.
  • I just went on a 3 hour factory tour (on Thursday) at http://outdoorsrvmfg.com. They have my business. They build a solid trailer.

Not to side track you but have you looked at outdoorsrv.com. Check out the creek side models.

I just received a info package from them, i'm impressed!!
  • We own a 2016 Lance 1685 and love it because it fits most of what we wanted in a trailer. Small size (fits into my car port). Large fresh water and holding tanks(45 gal each). And with the large slide had the most room inside including lots of well designed storage areas. Large pass through front storage accessible from the outside as well as from the inside under the queen bed.
Rear bathroom is accessible with the slide in, as well as the dinette, fridge, range, sink, etc. A bit restricted yes but accessible like for lunch at a rest stop, etc.
Pulls easily at about 5000+ lbs with all our stuff in it. Listed as 4071 from the factory with full propane tanks only.
Had two minor issues from factory: water leak at the front window while driving in the Oregon rain. Also water plumbing leak from under the bathroom sink area, only when connected up to city water. Both repaired under warranty. Has 4 season insulation package with enclosed, heated tanks and double pane storm windows etc. Generally speaking we are very happy with our unit.
  • I had a 990 truck camper and now an 1880 (non slide) travel trailer. While of good quality, I don't think the trailers are made to the same quality standards as the truck campers. My trailer is a first year model, from when lance first started producing trailers so my experience may be with a trailer that had some bugs that have been fixed in subsequent years. The dinette was screwed into the thin ply floor with wood screws that mostly pulled out. Because the fresh water tank is directly underneath, I can't use longer/bigger screws or through bolt the dinette without a lot of extra work dropping that tank. Also the roof is flat, not crowned. There have been no leaks so far however I understand a crowned roof to be more desirable in an RV.

That said, I love the trailer a lot. It is well insulated, light to tow, and has the amenities I really appreciate now that I am older. It's also comfortable inside. I've camped in 113 degree weather and the trailer got up to 82, while using reflectix on the windows. I was very happy.

Out of the 3 you listed, I would stay away from the 1575 due to the smaller fresh water tank. I boondock almost exclusively so I would like even the 30 gallon tank in my 1880 to be bigger.
  • One of our local dealers carries Lance trailers and truck campers. We had heard good things about this brand so went & looked at a few. We didn't like the floorplans (personal preference: we like to be able to access the bathroom enroute - without deploying the slideout - and none of the floorplans we saw allowed that). And some of the windows seemed to have been messed up - the seals broken, etc. Not sure if that was from the factory, or if something happened in transit. We ended up - mostly due to the floorplans - buying another brand. Loved some of the options they had - the sliding bin in the front pass-thru storage is one that sticks in my mind - but didn't seem to us they were worth the extra $.
