Lance 945 Step onto bed

I'm trying to run some wires from one side of the camper to the other and would like to go through the step. Any hints on how to remove the carpet and step without damaging it?
  • Just a guess, but this would be the first thing I would do. Look very carefully in the carpet and you should find four to six screws. Remove them and the step should lift up.
  • I removed the carpet and step on my 1121 when I put a marine hatch cover in the top of my water tank, and I eventually had to give up on getting the carpet off without damaging it. The staples Lance uses to fasten the carpet down are TINY little fine-wire things that you will never find. Plus, there's about 1000 of them just holding that one piece of carpet down.

Rip the carpet off, then you will see the screws holding the plywood down. Then find a remnant that complements the decor and recover it.

    :):)
  • We have the 845 -- if you remove the carpet and step - it's plywood under the carpet ... there are a few screws that come right out -- just search for them in the carpet ... plenty of room under the step and above the water tank ... I ran some charging wires and some cable TV lines thru it - and connected up in the little cabinet under the fridge. Easy as eating pie !!
  • Sometimes just finding the screw heads that get buried into the carpet is a frustrating task.

I took one of those small, super strong magnets (Neodymium) and moved it around the carpet until it found each screw head.
