Lance Camper Wiring to Truck
I have never been thrilled with the Lance plug but it came with the camper and the dealer wired up the truck. This was 6 years ago. I have struggled on and off with continuity and had to move the camper plug and loop the wires in different directions to get the lights to work, but it always worked eventually. Now it has become an issue that took me almost an hour to get the lights working this last time out. I wiggled the ground wire on the truck with the wife watching the lights and did the same in the camper but it didn't make it work. I also tried to clean up the camper plug, but that didn't seem to help either... Tried a bunch of things and it finally worked when I got it wedged just right.
I don't need any extra heavy charging from the alternator as I have solar, and don't run the fridge on 12V.
I am thinking I need to replace the camper plug with something easier and less of a hassle. Is the standard 7-way truck plug good enough.
I use the rear 7-way plug for towing. Can I get a Y-adapter off the rear plug and run a longer cord to/from the camper?
Looking for wiring connection options & opinions between the truck and the camper. Camper is a 2008 Lance 830 and Truck is a 2006 Dodge diesel.
