lance jacks

Hello
I am a newbie here.Got a question.Today we bought a 2009 lance 1181.The remote for the jacks is very intermittent.put a new battery in the remote...didn't help.It would go up a little then stop.Go a little more then stop. Finally got it off the truck.Any ideas?Any ideas would be appreciated. thanks Dave
  • I found the problem. The frequency of the transmitter did not match that of the receiver. To fix take the back of the transmitter(remote unit)You will see a place that has a small flat screwdriver slot. It's really easy to see.Make a small mark to the side of the screwdriver slot to mark where you started before you turn your screwdriver.Turn screw slot slightly ( I mean SLIGHTLY)one direction.Stop and remove screwdriver and push up or down.Try a little more in same direction if no change and repeat. If nothing happens return screw slot back to the starting mark and go the other direction.Remember to remove screwdriver every time you try any remote buttons as screwdriver could mess with the frequency.Hope this helps it worked for me. Dave
  • Mine does that too - recently started -- haven't figured out why but am guessing the contacts need cleaning maybe. It always works, eventually, but he intermittent operation is a PITA ... seems to work better when the weather's warmer too.
  • Shut the power off going to the control box for a few minutes then power it up.
  • Do the jacks work as intended when you plug the cord into the remote and the switch end?
  • Buy a lithium battery for remote ,I get them at radio shack. I have already changed batterys and realized later second battery was low. I buy the best now for remote.
  • Thanks guys.I'll try to find the control box.The batteries are fully charged so I don't think that is a problem, because when it works it works normally....it's just intermittent.Do they have a lot of problems with these?
  • The remote antenna is usually short. Try using the remote just outside the control box area.
  • And make sure the camper battery has a good charge on it. The jacks won't work properly without a charged battery, not even on shore power.
  • Check the antenna for the wireless in the TC it should be in with all the other electrical stuff under the cabover step. make sure it is straight and all the the connections are solid. Also make sure the contacts on the remote activation switch inside the door are clean and tight. sometimes you have to move about the outside of the camper to find that spot with the best signal until you get in there and clean things up.
