- Here's some more coverage of the Bronco and the Bronco sport (which I have no interest in). It's clear that Ford targeted the Bronco to be a off road runner and not a rock crawler.

That only matters if you're rock crawling with big tires. For the majority that will never see much more than a dirt road the IFS will be fine. Ford still has issues with death wobble in their solid axle Superdutys so why chance it on a new model driven by soccer moms?
Lots of soccer moms are rolling around fine in Wranglers. I understand that most folks don't venture off pavement much, but this is sort of a halo product for Ford and they had an opportunity to create something that would be a hit for enthusiasts but they mailed it in instead. Not surprising but still disappointing.
I get what you're saying, in order to truly compete with the Jeep it should have been a solid axle and the enthusiasts will discredit it for that. My guess is that most of the people that will drive one of these will not know the difference. It looks to me like Ford is setting this up to be more along the lines of the Raptor than a rock crawler with all of the teaser videos showing it bombing down a trail at speed rather than slower, tighter trails.
I do think the Bronco is a great looking vehicle, I used to have a 73 myself. Wonder if it can tow anything? - IdaDExplorer

That’s a good point and I think ford went with a independent front suspension for other reasons Jeep uses a solid front axle. Case in point my wife was ready to purchase a Jeep Wrangler 4 door back in December and after the test drive a bit of caution came up for ride quality and wind noise where the two big concerns. So we decided to wait and see what the Bronco would offer and with a independent front suspension I’m sure the ride quality will be improved but the wind noise is still an unknown. So her daily drive is around Houston/Katy area and off-road is around our hunting property which is dirt roads for the most part so I think this vehicle may fit her needs better.- IdaDExplorerI'd like it a lot more if it had a solid axle on both ends.

- Jebby14ExplorerI like the looks, time will tell how capable it is. I suspect it will be priced out of contention in my household though.

The 2 door is a clay model and good for Ford. They made a Jeep Wrangler 15 years later. Good for them..... - LwiddisExplorer III’m a Chevy guy but the new Bronco looks much better than the new Trail Blazer.
