Leaking around skylight/vent/fan

What do you all recommend for fixing a leak around the fan/vent in the roof of a pop-up? I bought that tape that some folks use, but a friend of mine used a product she painted on with a paintbrush that resealed the edges.

Anyone have any luck with fixing such a leak?

Thank you in advance for your help,

    ??? 5 years...SWEET

it is not like we have to climb upon a roof to see it. Dicor is cheaper and easier. I actually used the non sag type on my vent and it looks perfect. Nice and neat

  • It must be noted that nothing will seal a leak if you neglect to CLEAN the place you put "stuff" to do the sealing. No matter what you use, it must be on a clean surface, or it too will leak. Scrape off any loose crud, wash with soap and water, rinse the heck out of it, and wipe down with 90% rubbing alcohol, then be sure it is bone dry before you put that "stuff" on. At which point, whatever you use should work like a charm.

My theory is that anybody who's tried to stop such leaks and failed, simply didn't have a clean surface to start with.
  • you can go to rv dealer and get a tube of dicor self leveling type use caulking gun to aply
