Leaking toilet questions

Took the trailer out and used the toilet for the first time and noticed it leaking around the base.... checked the water connection onb the back no leaking and tight.... seems to leak after flushing.... do I need to replace the flange and ring? How do I find the model number its a thetford... trailer is a 2000 Fleetwood prowler 19n...... are all thetford flanges and rings the same?

  • Most likely you have a flush valve that's leaking. Pretty common for Thetford toilets especially back around 2000 to 2010 I believe. Get down on your knees and lean over the toilet and flush it while using a flashlight to look at everything behind it to see where the water is coming from.
  • While you have toilet out......replace bowl seal & install a shut off valve on water supply
  • While replacing the foam gasket, I'd check to see if water has been leaking for a while and caused any damage to the subfloor.
  • put a big rag over the hole, things have a way of jumping out of your fingers and down it goes. take a flashlight and look down the hole for build up. have fun, some body has to do it.
  • Ya we noticed an order too every once in a while so looks like ill try the new ring... anything else I should check for leaking while toilet is off?
  • It isnt a wax ring like a home toilet. It has a foam ring/gasket. I think they are universal size. I have replaced one, worst part of the job was cleaning underside of the toilet. That, and the new foam, went along way towards getting rid of odors.
  • All Thetford seals are the same. I doubt the flange needs replacing, just the foam seal.
