- GordonThreeExplorerCan you name names Roy, on the led boards that caused such horrible interference?
FCC Part 15 class B does allow for devices like radio and tv must accept interference that may cause adverse operation, but the flipside of that is consumer grade devices must also comply with part 15 class B and not cause undue interference to other devices. perhaps these led you had were listed under a different regulation, such as industrial (class a) or scientific (ism) devices, which are allowed to cause interference with class b consumer grade devices. - RoyBExplorer IIThe LED BOARDS that have INPUT DC VOLTAGE regulator chips installed on the may emit RFI interference that will over ride the TV signal input especially if you are using the OTA antenna.
The boards I ended up do not have the extra chips on them that cause the RFI signals.
The LED BOARDS will most definitely be the problem. I bought a whole bunch of these one brand without trying ONE first and ended up with 12 or so of these in use. Blanked out my HDTV, WX RADIO, and my HAM RADIO VHF ops. The company that made the LEDs told me it was their BUCK BOOST circuit causing the problem but that they were in specs with the FCC as long as they had a statement saying this may happen. Much like the garage door operations using certain cell phone haha...
I ended up wiring in a DUAL SWITCH on my ceiling light where I had one good LED board install in the first position and the RFI ones I already had in the second position. This way I could still use my RFI LED boards when we wasn't watching HDTV... thought they would eventually burn out but all LEDs are still running including the one that emit RFI.
My suggestion to all was only by ONE when you start replacing all of them and try it out. Then go buy the other $150 dollars worth of boards after that.
Roy Ken - GordonThreeExplorerNearly every led in my coach is using a switching regulator and I have no reception issues with tv or radio (now that I wired my tv antenna correctly). some switchers I built myself, other are the honorable finest quality China's best has to offer.
I would strongly suspect some other power issue before blaming the switching regulator for the TV's troubles.
Here are 0.5 amp regulators (~6 watts) based on a SMPS chip running at about 300khz (hence the huge inductor). they power three Philips Lumiled "rebel" leds, replacing a feeble 921 type bulb (two per fixture typically) - icanonExplorer

If the TV goes off it's not interference as some suggested. Interference causes the TV to lose or weaken a signal.
Did you try putting the original lights back and see what happens? My guess it's a short and even then it's two systems 12v and 110v? If all is ok then replace one LED at a time a verify if the TV is affected after each installation of LED light. - austinjennaExplorerYah thats normal, to turn the tv back on you need to turn on the radio then. Use the dvd to turn everything off
- 2012ColemanExplorer IIFor some unknown reason at the time, my TV kept going off last night - please stop it...

Sounds like a good plan to me! - 2oldmanExplorer II

Some LEDs have built in electronic regulators which tend to emit a lot of radio interference (RFI) which often interferes with TV and radio signals..
That tends to blank out the screen but not power off the TV.. but if you mean the TV is powering off then the alternate possibility is the LED light is emitting light way past the visible light and into Infrared which your TV remotes work in..
LED lights are a hit or miss type of thing, some work and some don't.. Some interfere and some don't..
Quality is all over the map and depending on where you got them from you most likely will end up tossing them out and buying some from a more reputable source..
You might wish to expand your description.. - egroveExplorerYea some cheap LED bulbs can interfere with TV and radio signals.
