LED TV Suggestions

I give my vote to Vizio. I mounted mine through the wall to the closet and installed a metal plate in the closet to spread the load.

I wanted a combo unit so bought the Toshiba which has been very reliable. I looked at the small DVD players and they were the cheap ones from Chinese companies and not at all reliable which is even more important when traveling.

If we are at a campground with Wifi we will stream Netflix to a laptop and from there to the TV. If not we will play DVD's if we want to watch something. In both cases we are 100% commercial free.

I plugged into the lighter socket and bought an adapter at Radio Shack that fit the lighter power cord and the TV. Works great on 12 Volt and does not seem to put much drain on the batteries.

Makes Costco even a better value with the extended warranty. I wasn't aware that they had one. What did you use to connect the TV to the 12 volt power supply?

Samsung 24 in. TV from Costco $200.00 and they also had a very well built swing out mount. I placed a 1/2 in plywood piece inside the cabinet and bolted the mount to it. The TV runs on 12 volt if you bypass the 120 power brick. Works great and has a fantastic picture. Costco extended 5 year warranty for $29.95.

I've had a 32" Vizio for the past 5 years and it's always worked great. It's not LED though. But this past Christmas I bought my girlfriend a 32" Samsung LED from Costco and am really impressed by it. Much better picture than my Vizio (probably not a fair comparison due to the age difference). But the main reason I went for the Samsung is she has a lot of movies on an external hard drive and with Samsung's ConnectShare Movie and USB port we can watch movies right off the hard drive. Some other brands do this as well but I had read that many of them are quite finnicky in what movie formats they support. Samsung's ConnectShare seems to play just about anything.

No, I never thought to ask but I should have. I got mostly lucky, There does seem to be some blocking in there. I hit it with the first hole closer to the trailer wall but the hole farther out I didn't so I then had to use the inner and middle holes on the mount. I took a rough measurement and I hit the blocking with the 8" holes and the 10" holes but missed with the 12" hole... all measured from the wall out.

I'm sure glad I returned the 22" tv I planned on installing as the mount would have been quite a bit farther out and probably would have missed the blocking... that would have been a real mess.

Mine was much easier being the 89RB, because I don't have a shower there so I can use bolts right through.

Yea, I was looking at TVs at Costco the other day. With a two year warranty it certainly beats the overpriced factory option. I could get at least 2 TVs if not 3 for what they want.

The other mounts mounted with screws and I couldn't use bolts because of the way the mount separated. In my case I was able to bolt it right through with fender washers and nylock nuts. I actually emailed Adventurer and they told me the stock mount they use is 8lbs as well. I think it may even be that exact one.

I just really like the travel latch, I know it's way more money than a cheaper mount but the latch works quite well and I didn't want to have to mess around with coming up with another way to store the tv for travel.

When you installed the mount, did Adventurer provide any guidance on where the mount should actually be installed? There is a bath on the other side of the wall where the mount would need to be installed.

The TC is an 86SBS and the mount would go on the common wall between the cabover and the bath. So it is my intention to have the dealer install the mount. I got a rather strange reply when I asked if they could get the mount and install it. They re-iterated a sales pitch that the TV and mount came together and that the TV was a marine TV. Bla Bla … I didn't ask them that, I asked then for (a) pricing to install a mount and (b) pricing for something other then what the factory offered.

I don't want to install the mount my self for the same reasons you stated, but I am not going to pay what they would want for the factory TV. I'm pretty sure I can get the same mount that the factory uses and my just go to my local RV repair shop and have them install it.
