Depending on your current age and how long you plan to keep RV-ing, your body is gonna age out no matter what you do and at some point can develop (if you don't already) arthritis and any number of other health conditions that will make the extra stairs in a FW a challenge. We're not senior citizens yet, but chose a TT due to both of us having mild-medium issues that would be aggravated by the extra stairs a FW has and would only get worse over time. We totally love the one-level living in our 29' TT.
I really like having all the storage space available in the 8' bed of our truck. I like having the bed available for hauling all kinds of stuff around whether it's camping stuff or stuff at home and I don't have to worry about a FW hitch in the way. Just can't imagine not having the full use of the bed. Ever...
Along with upgrading from a 20' to a 29' TT, upgrading from a 1/2T to 3/4T super duty was an excellent decision we made. The difference between the two is incredible and can't be appreciated until you've personally towed with both. We do NOT in any way find the ride in the SD uncomfortable even with the HD Bilsteins I installed. I much prefer feeling "in touch" with the road and the resulting better handling.
If you go with a TT and intend to drive long distances and on roads with lots of twists and turns, bumps and elevation changes, make sure to address sway and handling for safety reasons and driving comfort. It's taken me 3 years of upgrades and tweaking to get it all dialed in. Now when I'm towing it handles like a sports car on rails and sway is NOT an issue at all and makes it a very enjoyable drive. Shocks on the trailer made a huge improvement. The TV is also part of the equation.
Never a problem hitching up for me and can get it done in minutes. If DW helps, it goes even faster. We have agreed on some hand signals that make it a snap hitching up or backing into a site. If someone is struggling hitching or backing up a TT, seems to me they need more practice.
If there is a negative to owning a TT it is poor construction quality and is rampant throughout the TT industry. We've had our fair share of it to deal with plus we had one of the worst scenarios you'd ever want to deal with. I don't follow FW discussions and don't know if they have similar issues. If you want a lot of fancy features and luxury, you'll have to go with a FW. I have to admit that the newer FWs with the living room at the front are kinda cool.
