Letting the grey water out a bit to extend it's use?

On some rigs, there are large black and grey water tanks. I've emptied a couple gallons from the grey tank using a bucket, moving it to the commode and black tank in order to prolong boondocking time.

I like the philosophy of "pack it in, pack it out", even if it is water/wastewater.
