Want to lift the trailer off the ground for stabilizing, leveling and mostly to take weight off the tires when in storage. This was just a thought as I have seen fifth wheel trailer with the ability to be lifted off the ground.
I think you are confusing issues. I can lift my fiver off the ground with the leveling system. But I don't think that makes the fiver more stable.
Lifting makes the rig level not stable. A rig with tires on the ground is certainly more stable.
Imagine if a hurricane force wind came through would the rig be more stable on or off the ground? I'm not suggesting anyone camp in a hurricane but it seems obvious on the ground is way more stable.
I've never heard of a vehicle falling off its wheels. But I have heard of vehicles falling off of jack stands or stands collapsing.
As mentioned you can use additional jack stands and or BAL stabilizers to create stability by taking the bounce/deflection out of the tires and suspension.
Raising the fiver off the ground will not increase stability. But will make the rig inherently more unstable.
