Right now you don't even know which end is the problem. Start by finding someone with a 7 pin and connect the popup to it and see if all the lights work.
Also check the 4 flat on the edge with a voltmeter and see what you get.
My guess is the Ford edge brain doesn't play nice with the 4 pin to 7 pin adapter (or the adapter is faulty). You may be out of luck unless you find a hack on internet.
