Line-x, Rhino or manufacturer spray bed liner?

We notice that Cehvy has the option of a factory-installed spray in bed liner. Better or worse than Line-x or Rhino-liner? Since we are getting a fifth wheel, would you have the liner strayed on first & then install the hitch, or install the hitch first so that any little areas disturbed by the install would be covered? Thanks!
  • I believe Ram uses Line-X product or it looks exactly like it. It also comes with a 3/36 warranty. I will try and find out who the vendor is for the spray in liner material.

I would think that the factory applied liner should be better don't you guys? Think about it, if you use the after market the bed has to be scuffed, and most all failures are a result of improper prep work! Being done at the factory would eliminate the need to scuff the bed as it is applied before the paint.

BTW not sure what Ford or GM charges but it's a $475 option for the Ram, the same price you pay at Line-X.

    Don
  • Definately spray before, we had the old truck "Shanequa" linex-ed before installing the hitch and are happy with it.
  • My dealer suggested that I get Line-X after market instead of the factory spray in. It was cheaper.
  • We had our bed sprayed before installing the hitch with a product called Full Metal Jacket. Have only had it for about 15 months, but shows no degradation yet. Although, we do keep it in the garage most of the time but have hauled a number of things with it and no scars yet. We had Rhino Liner in our last pickup for nine years and were very satisfied with it as well.
  • I recommend Line-X. Very superior product. Had mine sprayed in 2 years ago and not a hint of wear anywhere.
Just make sure you use a reputable installer. The quality of the finished product has more to do with correct prep of the bed before applying.
  • I had Line X extra sprayed in my 2010 F350 and had it color matched to the truck. It is a great product and very durable. I just traded for a 2013 F350 with the factory sprayed in liner and I don't think it is as good as the Line X. Also can not get the factory spray color matched so the bed liner is your basic black. Does not look as good. Another thing with the Line X extra is that it is reinforced with Kevlar so it is very tough.

I would have the liner sprayed before you install the hitch.
