I like the sound of my 8.3 Cummins, but I didn't like my 7.3 PSD. Really loud.

Yes I loved the sound of the turbo on my Ford 6.0L. It was an early 2003 model and the turbo whistle was really loud and cool!I like the sound of my Cummins too but I can barely hear any turbo whistle in the cab even when the truck is working hard.

I love the sound of my two trucks:2007 C4500 Chevy Duramax.... sounds like pure power especially once the turbo kicks in.1986 C35000 Chevy with 454 Gas equipped with headers and flowmaster mufflers... Sounds like rolling thunder. It sets off car alarms as I drive through underground parking lots.

I like the way my Cummins sounds. Good balance between quiet but still a little classic diesel clatter.

My 6.6 Duramax is really quiet, but sometimes at a stop sign, I'll crack open my window just to heard the clatter of the diesel at idle. Nothing like it.

And if I had a new one, I'd keep it quiet.....probably. Would defineitly be nicer on long road trips, but then again so would a 7th gear in my Dodge!
Most all diesels sound cool, if you like that stuff.
Like the roar of a uncorked V8 too, don't matter what bread, new or old.

Do not miss my 99 7.3 in the least, and least of all the noise. Oh! there is one thing is was nice to conveniently get to the fuel ,and oil filter.

I do enjoy the sound of the Cummins

The 7.3 trucks do ride rough due to leaf spring front suspension, but the coil spring setup on todays Super Duty's ride so much better.

BTW... You can add the 7.3 PSD to one of the best sounding diesels to date. Also this thread reminds me of a friend of mine who still has his 96 F250 7.3PSD (only used on special occasions)and having a conversation when going down the road was a bit tough.

Since I purchased my new SuperDuty (traded the Cummins), I can now go through a drive through without turning off the engine. Unfortunately, my wife and I can also easily carry on a conversation -- and she sometimes thinks we should.

I am in Alberta. It is a one ton cab and chassis 4x4 automatic with a service body on its back. It is a 1989 I believe and although I haven't put any thought into selling it I guess I probably should do that.
