Little Door into Truck Box Front Left Question

Got a 1981 truck camper we are fixing up. What is the access door into the box meant for at the front bottom left? (Front right is water tank so no door there) What do people stash out there? T...

We keep our supply of dog food there on long trips in dry bag. It will be sharing space with tent poles for new awning I made. They just fit and don't slide out like loose stuff tends to on the one we have in the back on the passenger side. List must of a car of bottled water going up a mountain. LOL
