Locked Out

We are locked out of our trailer, fortunately, it is in front of our house, but we are planning on leaving Thursday for a 4 day weekend.
Has anyone ever Jimmied the lock? AAA couldn't do. All windows that I could fit through are locked tight. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

  • Are you locked out because you can't find the key, or are you locked out because someone locked up and removed the key while the key was horizontal, rather than vertical? If the former, obviously you need to find the key or call a locksmith.

If the latter, you have one of the defective locks that were supposed to be recalled a couple years ago, and you will have to have that locksmith drill the tumbler out and replace the entire lock mechanism.

Yep. A good locksmith should have you in quickly.
  • To bad you are not in a campground, most RV locks use a similar cut on the key, so many times you can use a neighbor's key to open your lock.

What about using a coat hanger to access the key rig - you said that all large windows are locked, what about a smaller one?

My guess is that you can see where you set the keys down on the table or something? Like my RV, I can lock the bottom lock, then close the door behind me as I leave. But I keep a few extra keys around. I give them to friends when out camping, so they can get in if they want to- say while I am sightseeing. I don't give out the deadbolt key, but still keep a copy in my wallet.

    Good luck,

    Fred.
  • On our old trailer, I could climb in the side compartment and push the bed up to get inside. Your trailer is probably configured different.
