Long bed camper in a 6' truck bed ?

I am thinking of trading trucks, but I am thinking I would like a short bed or a 6' bed Truck. I have a Lance 1030 and would like to know if any is putting there long bed camper in a 6' bed truck. And is it working. I am only using my camper a couple of time a season.

Agree! It's really about the CoG and you don't want it behind your rear axle.
  • A six foot bed has no additional value. When going looking for trucks I happened to notice that all available used trucks for sale were 6 foot beds. Therefore I surmised that most 8 foot beds were more desirable/ valuable.

  • i guess i should return mine then.i have an 8.5 in my shortbox ram.

OK Thanks for the input. Just trying to decide what to do .
  • I would not . Consider your center of load behind the rear axle and the effect. Honestly the shorter bed drives about the same as the longer IMHO
  • Doesn't seem like a good idea. I had a long bed 8' pop-up in a short bed Dodge for a year. I left the tailgate down and the camper didn't quite reach the end so it was fully supported. Even so, it put me over on the rear axle weight.
You're camper, being 10' or more in length, probably be worse. Your rear tie down point will be well behind the attachment point location necessitating modifications.
I'd keep the long bed truck. For my use a long bed isn't even big enough. Or, get a short bed camper like a Lance 830.
