Tundra, as a retired engineer who ended up better at closing 37 plants than building 17 I know what it is to plan and then try to let go.
We have 50 days next spring from MI to AZ and back. Learning to relax is not as easy as learning to take care of all possible details.
You'll do alright on the second leg of the trip cause you'll learn more on the first leg than you thought possible.
RVParkReviews and the Google Earth stuff will tell you more about the campgrounds than any other way. Recently some of the Facebook posts on campgrounds have been informative on the lesser know campgrounds.
Have fun and take notes and photos. Be sure to download and tag photos as your memory will NOT keep them straight.
