Other than making sure the truck and trailer are loaded and ready to go (and I have extensive check lists for that), my major pre-trip exercise is finding campsites along the route and making reservations if necessary.
Sounds like the trip will be in June? Good timing, kids will mostly still be in school. But if the weather is good, you might need to make reservations for the weekends at state parks. Or plan on stopping early on Fridays and maybe not moving at all on Saturdays.
Route planning and finding nifty new campsites to try is a lot of fun. Maybe not as fun as the actual trip though.:)
