Regarding your original issue with safety and two axles, I don't think it makes a lot of sense to say you would be willing to make do with a 1500 for 30ft but also insist on dual axles for safety reasons.
My 1500 was fine for 23.5ft (a "22" model) at about 4500lbs wet. Make sure to go by the actual length not the box length only or the model name.
