I'm working with a Chevy dealer to ensure that the 1500 I choose to purchase is capable of towing 30ft trailer. If it's not, then I'll look into other options. But I really don't want to go up to the 2500, higher price and worse gas mileage.
Not sure about Chevys, but with Fords, a F250 cost very little more than a comparably equipped F150. I do the comparisons all the time, should something happen to my current HDPP equipped F150.
They are less than $2K difference in price, and considering I can get some options on the F250 that aren't available on a HDPP equipped 1/2 ton such as BLIS (BLindside Information System), and heated front seats (highly desirable by my wife), the F250 is a better deal.
I will not argue that MPG wise, the 1/2 ton will do better. Fuel mileage definitely goes down with a 3/4 gasser.
