look to buy a trailer and have a few questions

The wife and I are looking to buy a tripple slide quad bunk at the end of the month and I have some questions im hoping yall can help answer. I guess the first and biggist is about brands we know the floor plan we want and it seems that everyone is making it but there sure seems to be a lot of differences in pricing and im just not sure why. We are looking the hardest at a 2014 puma 31 dbts mostly because of the price its 3 to 4 k below the equivlant jfight. So im trying to find out what i should be looking for to justify the price difference. Thanks for any advice you can give the new rv guy.
  • I have owned several Puma's and been very happy with them. You will hear many good comments about Jayco on this forum as well. Puma and Sierra come totally different divisions of Forest River so I wouldn't let that bother me. Puma and Jayco Jay Flight are pretty comparable but one thing with Puma is they have a ton of available options so make sure that when you compare it is an "apples to apples" comparison. If the Puma is several thousand cheaper, I would buy it in a minute
  • I have been very happy with the quality of my JayFlight. We will likely upgrade to a larger floor plan and stay with Jayco.

If you think it matters; Jayco is still a private family owned while Puma is a public Palomino-Forest River-Berkshire Hathawy owned brand.
  • Ok well the wife drives a 05 excurson 4x4 6.0 and i have an 07 f350 4x4 6.0 so pulling it won't be a problem. We have put lot of thought into what floor plan to buy. Im just trying to figure out what brand to buy. We have looked at used and for the money i think new is are best bet. Haste Maker do you feel that all forest river products are made with the same quality or do you feel that you may have gotten a bad apple. What is you new one?
  • I hope you get the trailer that makes you happy. We were in the same boat as you 2 years ago, and we made the mistake of buying a "Sierra" made by "Forest River" that was very poorly made at the factory, nothing big just a "LOT" of little things, but now after 2 years a couple of thousand dollars we have got what we thought we brought "NEW"...I have also been banned for life on the "Sierra" message board for telling the truth about my trailer...they don't want any negative post about this subject.
  • Are you willing to buy a real tow vehicle ?
The minimum is a diesel pickup for that size of rig .
The best plan is to buy a late model used from the original owner .
Most on this forum are on their 4th RV ..
The odds of you getting it right the first time are about 3.456 %
    I tow a 21 footer with a diesel GMC .
I am much happier with that than the previous two , eachof which were larger .
