Looking for a So Cal Thanksgiving uncrowned camp spot

The wife & I along with our 100lb dog are looking for a cool location close to L.A. to go camping during thanksgiving. Don't want anything crowded & crazy like we did last year at the Glamis Sand ...

If you move on, are you thinking of Ballarat? Just a short drive from the Pinnacles. A nice spot for a few days and they got a bit of rain to settle the dust.
