Looking for a stove top 3 burner igniter kit

I hate the fact that I bought a 20k trailer and have to use a lighter every time I want to light a burner. Has anyone found a aftermarket solution to this? Is there a bolt on kit? Don't care if its battery powered or push button.

  • My 3 burner Atwood stove had a "clunk clunk clunk" rotator and the spark ignitor. I bought a AA ignitor for a BBQ from Home Depot. It just barely fit in the space on the front of the oven. I did have to enlarge the mounting hole. It works great. Very happy I did it. Total cost was less than $40.
  • Thanks for the link Fisherman, I did a search but failed to find that post. Looks like i have another Mod on the "to do" list.
  • The ignitor for the oven is more difficult I gave up on it but the burners were easy
  • I was tired of the noisy manually rotated sparker on our range so I purchased a 4 wire version that has the battery in the front panel push button from my local True Value hardware store. Now my oven also lights from the same push button; no more standing on our heads.

Thanks Lynnmor, i looked at that route and determined it was a little high on the budget for the return. Found a kit that Grillpro offer that might work for about $15 shipped. Only thing i see is difficulty mounting the spark tip as it has a very small bracket. Just wondering if anyone has tried this.

Some has done it with excellent results, if I'm not mistaken in the DIY section. He used one of the AA battery powered ignitors and a tip to each burner.

    EDIT, right here: Stove igniter
  • You can just get a sparker for a BBQ that has at least as many circuits as you need. For instance, if you have three burners but get a sparker for 4 points then you just ground the extra one.
Then you can cut the wires that go to the existing "spark plugs" and tap into them with the wires supplied by the sparker. That way you have both the new electronic unit and the old original manual part in case of failure.

I don't know the brand of your stove, but you can usually buy all the parts necessary. I found the sparker and wires on ebay, bought a knob from PPL, and modified outdoor grill ignitors to upgrade mine. For a complete factory upgrade, you probably need to replace all the burners and that would be expensive.
