I now have an 02 F250 7.3 PSD. I do like the Ford body and the size of the 4 door cab. Dodge's 4 door cabs are not big enough for my liking so that leaves me to another Ford or Chevy/GMC.I've heard bad storys on the Ford 6.0's So what are you peoples take on that?I am leaning more on an 06 Dmax. I had no problems with my truck. We bought it 1 year old (It was a leased model). Nothing major done to it, just normal maintenance stuff, oil changes, tune-up, couple tires, battery stuff. It's been one good truck. See my signature block below. (And best of all 100% paid in full)!

If not happy with cab size you need to look at the Dodge Mega cab it is the biggest in the industry.

The early Ford 6.0 had some issues but that was ten years ago, any on the road now should be fine. Is an 06 going to be a big improvement over what you have? An eight year old truck is going to have some miles on it.

I don't want to get into this emissions******thats why i'm saying no newer then 06. Millage doesnt really scare me, its a diesel. I don't like the megga cabs because you loose alot of bed space, I do want an 8 foot bed.

Agree with the above posters. The LBZ is the gold standard for diesel HD pickups.

I however, would lean toward the 2004.5~2005 LLY. It is cheaper because it had a slightly unfounded reputation for overheating. A very few did, and the ones that did have been fixed by now.

LLY problems with over heating are not unfounded and AKA Ford, GM never addressed the issue. There are aftermarket fixes.

I did find a nice 05 also but I was told they has an injecter issue plus the 06 got the beefed up internals which I like and the 6 speed Allison and not the 5 speed. If I found one in good shape for a good price I would consider it.

I've got a 2006 LBZ. I just had my turbo replaced last week. I wouldn't say it's very common, but there have been many LBZ turbos needing replacement. The tranny cooler lines leak, and google: Transfer case pump rub.

There is a fella who posts on here occasionally who has a mega cab with 8 foot bed. Long? Yes, but it gets the job done. And he loves it. Do you really really need an 8 foot bed?
